Tree
Identification
We have planted over a hundred of 29 different species
of trees and shrubs on our schoolgrounds. These native plants
attract birds, butterflies and small mammals. You
can learn how to identify trees similar to the ones on our
school grounds by looking at the pictures and reading the
clues.
Most trees can be identified by certain characteristics
of their leaves. They can be divided into 2 main groups:
1. deciduous
with large, flat, broad leaves
and
2. coniferous
with sharp needles or scales.
